Rünge Cars Workshop

There’s something special going on in Alexandria, MN. A man with a vision of coach-built sports cars from the 1950s and ‘60s has dedicated the last decade of his life to building these lightweight machines that he pictures in his mind’s eye. Christopher Runge takes the ethos of “one man, one machine” and creates incredible, driveable sculpture. These aren’t just art pieces, intended only to be driven on and off the trailer between car shows, however. They’re fully capable of being driven in the same manner as the race cars they recollect. I’ve known Chris for years now, and finally, in 2020, I had the honor of visiting his new workshop and seeing exactly where he turns his dreams into reality.
